Working for God
“I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the work that you gave me to do.” – John 17:4
Gaby Brimmer, is a severely handicapped woman who is deeply admired in Mexico. Stricken with cerebral palsy, she cannot speak, walk or move her hands. The only functional limb in her body is her left foot. But her impairment did not become a hurdle in honing her talent as a writer. With the support and assistance of her loving parents, she learned to type using her big toe and earned the right to attend a regular school to pursue her interest in writing. On January 2, 2000, Gaby passed away and left an endearing legacy for the disabled like her. In her honor, the Mexican president granted scholarships to artists and writers with handicaps. God gifted each of us with unique talents and abilities to improve our quality of life, and there is no excuse for not fully utilizing our potentials. But many of us easily give up when confronted with setbacks in life. Gaby showed that by confronting our limitations and accepting them, we can continue to grow. God is not concerned about how much we have accomplished but how much of ourselves are we willing to give. -Jane
REFLECTION: Is it possible that we have trouble finishing things because we do not pursue what God has called us to do?
Thank You, Father, for the talent You have entrusted to me. May I use it well to give You glory. Amen.
