Andoy's Story

Somewhere in Milaor, Camarines Sur, Philippines there lived a fourth
grader boy named Andoy who would follow this route to school everyday.
He has to cross the rugged plains and cross the dangerous highway where
vehicles are recklessly driving to and from. Once passed this highway,
the boy would take a short cut by passing by the Church every morning
just to say Hi to Jesus, and faithfully say his, "Magandang umaga po"
in Bicol dialect.
A Priest, who was so happy to find innocence so uplifting in the
morning, was faithfully watching the boy. "Kamusta Andoy! Papasok ka
na?" "Opo padre..." He would flash his innocent grin, the priest would
be touched.
The priest was so concerned that one day he talked to Andoy, "From
school...", he advised "do not cross the highway, you can pass through
the Church and I can accompany you to the other side of the road...
that way I can see that you are home safe. "Thank you father." "Why
don't you go home?
Why do you stay in this Church right after school?" "I just want to say
"Hi" to my friend, Jesus,"
The priest would leave the boy to spend time beside the altar, talking
by himself, but the priest hid behind the altar to listen to what this
boy has to say to his heavenly FATHER. "You know my math exam was
pretty bad today, but I did not cheat - although my seatmate is
bullying me for notes...
I ate one cracker and drank my water, Itay had a bad season and all I
can eat is this cracker. Thank you for this! I saw a poor kitten that
was hungry and I know how he feels so I gave my last cracker to him ....
funny but I am not that hungry.
Look, this is my last pair of slippers ... I may have to walk
barefooted next week ... you see this is about to be broken. But it is
okay at least I am still going to school ... some say we will have a
hard season this year and some of my classmates have already stopped
going to school. Please help them get back to school again, please
Jesus? ...
Oh, you know, Inay had hit me again, it is painful, but I know this
pain will pass away; at least I still have a mother... Jesus, you want
to see my bruises? I know you can heal them...here...here and....oh ....
blood ... I guess you knew about this one huh? Please don't be mad at
Inay. She is just tired and she worries for the food in our table and
my schooling that is why she hits us ...
Oh, I think I am in love ... there's this pretty girl in my class, her
name is Anita ... do you think she will like me? Anyway, at least I
know you will always like me, I don't have to be anybody just to please
you, you are my very best friend! Hey your birthday is two months from
now!
Aren't you excited? I am! Wait till you see my gift for you.... But it
is a surprise! I hope you will like it! Oops, I have to go..." then he
stood up and calls out, "Padre, padre, I am finished talking to my
friend. You can accompany me to the other side of the road now"
Everyday this routine happens without fail for Andoy. Father Agaton
shares this every Sunday to the people in his church because he has not
seen a very pure faith and trust in Jesus, a very positive look at
negative situations.
One Christmas day, Father Agaton was sick so he could not make it to
Church, he was sent to the hospital. The Church was left to 4 manangs
who would chant the rosary in 1000 miles per hour would not smile and
always find fault in what you do. They are also very well versed in
cursing if you irritate them! They were kneeling, saying their
kilometric rosary when Andoy, coming from his Christmas party,
playfully dashed in, "Hello Jesus!
"P----! (a curse) bata ka! Alam mo nang may nagdadasal dito! Alis!"
Poor Andoy was so terrified, "Where's Father Agaton? He is supposed
to help me cross the street.... And to be able to cross the street I
will have to pass by this church ... not only that, I have to greet
Jesus. Today is His birthday and I have a gift right here....
Just as he was about to get the gift out of his shirt, one manang
pulled his shirt and threw him out of the church. "Susmaryosep! (does
a sign of the cross fervently) Alis kang bata ka, kung hindi
matatamaan ka! So the boy had no choice but to cross the dangerous
side of the road in front of the church.
He crossed. There was a blind curve. A fast moving bus came in. The
boy was protecting his gift inside his shirt, so he was not looking.
There was so little time. The bus hit Andoy and he died on the spot. A
lot of people crowded the lifeless body of the young boy.
Then suddenly, out of nowhere a tall man wearing a white shirt and
pants, a face so mild and gentle, but with eyes full of tears. He came
and lifted the boy in his arms and he was crying.
The curious bystanders nudged the man in white, and asked, "Excuse me
sir, are you related to this child? Do you know this child?" The man,
his face mourning and in agony answered, "He was my best friend."
He took the badly wrapped gift in the bloody chest of Andoy and placed
it near his heart. He stood up and carried the boy away and they both
disappeared in sight. The crowd was bewildered.
The next day, Father Agaton learned of the shocking news. He
immediately visited Andoy's house and wanted to learn more about the
man in white. He asked Andoy's parents. "Do you know the man who took
Andoy?"
"A man in white brought him here." sobbed the mother. "What did he
say?" The father answered, "He did not say anything. He was mourning.
We do not know him and yet he was very lonely at our son's death as if
he knew our son very well. There was something peaceful and
unexplainable about him. He brought my son home and then he smiled
gently.
He rubbed Andoy's hair away from his face and kissed him on his
forehead. Then he whispered something to Andoy." "What did he say?",
asked the priest. The father began, "He said to my son... "Thank you
for the gift ... I will see you soon... you will be with me
forever..." Andoy's father continued, "You know for a while, I felt
so wonderful. I cried, but I do not know why. All I know is that I
cried tears of joy. I could not explain it father.
When that man left, something peaceful came over me. I felt a deep
sense of love inside. I could not explain the joy in my heart. I knew
my boy is in heaven now . but .tell me father, who is this man that my
son talks to everyday in your church. You should know because you are
always there... except on the time of his death."
Father Agaton suddenly felt the tears welling in his eyes, with
trembling knees, he murmured, "He was talking to no one....
but....JESUS."

Have you Seen the Sign ?

“Listen to the instruction of our God… What care I for the number of your sacrifices, says the Lord.” – Isaiah 1:10-11
When I was young and immature, I would pray to God for something and I’d ask for signs to know what His answer would be. If I received red roses that day, then the answer is yes, but if it’s white, it would be no. Then no roses would come on that day. So I’d wait for about a week. (Of course, you can’t be too demanding of God.) After two weeks of no roses, I’d chance upon some red gumamela flowers. OK, that would do. They’re flowers and they’re red so it’s a yes.
Later, when I was much older and still immature, when I’d pray for something that I really desire (like forcing the Lord to make this guy the One for me), I’d fast or make a sacrifice in the hope that God would answer my desperate cries. I thought that if God could see that I was already anorexic from fasting, He might have pity on me and give me what I want.
Thank God that He is an all-knowing God. He can’t be manipulated even if I looked like a zombie from all my fasting. If He gave in to me then, I can surely say that I wouldn’t be where I am right now — happily writing about how good God has been to me for giving me my beautiful family! Ronna
REFLECTION:
Shouldn’t you be opening your ears to hear God’s voice instead of opening your eyes to see a sign?
Lord, thank You for ignoring all our attempts to manipulate You. Thank You for being our sovereign God.

11 Ways to Decompress after High Stress

These are some simple and great ways to destress after a tough day or event!

Work really well for me.

  1. Deep breathing. Take a deep breath. Hold it. Now let it out … slowly. Try counting to 10 as you let out your breath. Feel the tension and stress flowing out of you with your breath. Repeat 3-10 times, as necessary.
  2. Self-massage. I like to massage my shoulders, neck, head, lower back. It helps a lot. Even better: get your honey to do it for you! Another great relaxation technique is to tense up and then relax each muscle in your body, one at a time, starting from your toes up to your head.
  3. Take a walk. When I’m in the middle of stress, I like to take a walk around the building. I also do the deep breathing and self-massage mentioned above as I do so. It’s a great way of letting go of tension and allowing yourself to re-focus.
  4. Exercise. This morning, I went to the beach at 5:30 a.m. and went for a swim. It was beautiful at the beach at around sunrise, and the swim was invigorating. Yesterday I went for a bike ride, and the morning before it was a short but refreshing run. Tomorrow I think I’ll do another short run. It really gets the stress out of your system and gives you some quiet time to think when you exercise.
  5. Get outdoors. Even if I didn’t do the swim, just being there at the beach, with my decaf coffee was calming. It’s nice to connect with nature and take in the beauty around you. While you’re there, stretch, yawn, take some deep breaths, and enjoy.
  6. Disconnect. Turn off the phones, turn off the computer, and shut off the outside world for a little while. These things just raise your stress level. Go offline and forget about the online world! You can do it!
  7. Take a day off. That’s what I’m doing today. Don’t tell my boss. I have lots of vacation and sick leave saved up, so it’s not a problem, actually. I’m just going to veg out and allow myself to calm down and center.
  8. Meditate. You don’t need to be trained to have a short, relaxing meditation session. Just sit somewhere quiet, close your eyes, relax, and focus on your breathing. Try to concentrate on it coming into your body, and then going out. When other things pop into your head (they will, inevitably), just acknowledge them (don’t try to force them out) and allow them to leave, and then focus again on your breathing. Do this for as long as you can, and then take a couple of cleansing breaths, and get up a new person.
  9. Read. I like to throw myself on the couch with a good book. Well, not necessarily a good book — a page-turner. Something that will engross me completely, take my mind off everything else. John Grisham works well for me, as does William Gibson. And Terry Pratchett. Or Ann Patchett, for that matter. And Stephen King. Just get lost in their world.
  10. Love. I like to spend time with my kids or my wife. Just snuggle with them, focus on them, forget about the world. They are all that’s important, and sometimes I need that reminder.
  11. Take a nap. One of my favorites. Just take a 30-minute nap, and you’re re-set! A nap is like a restart button for life.

Lemon

Lemon is considered to be a sacred fruit since time immemorial in various cultures of the world. It is also associated with rituals to drive away evil spirits, to break up the spells of black magic and to bring health and prosperity. Superstitions aside, lemon is a fruit which is good for health and can cure many diseases.

Lemon contains valuable acids, citric, malic, potassium citrate etc, in addition to vitamin C. These interact with one another to help in the absorption of iron and calcium, improve haemoglobin in the blood and strengthen the bones. These acids also help in dissolving waste products such as uric acid, excessive fat and cholesterol. Because of its effect on the accumulated fat in the body, lemon juice was the first natural tonic given to weight watchers throughout the world.

Lemon is rich in vitamin C, the deficiency of which leads to rickets and defective teeth formation in young children and also causes gastro-intestinal disorders. Vitamin C plays a major role in the formation of collagen which is essential to keep the skin smooth, wrinkle free and soft.

Lemon as a beauty aid:

To improve skin texture and complexion, squeeze a fresh lemon in a glass of boiled milk and add 20 ml of glycerin. Let it stand for 30 minutes and then apply to the face, hands and other exposed areas of the body. Let it dry overnight and wash it the next morning. You will see gradual improvement in your skin with regular use of this face pack.

This preparation also helps to cure cracked heels and palms. It prevents pimples, freckles and dry skin. On application to nails, they became soft and healthy and it is the only cure to reduce brittleness of the nails.

Drink a glass of butter milk adding the juice of a half lemon every morning as a beauty tonic.

The paste of tender lemon leaves with a pinch of turmeric powder, works wonderfully to cure pimples, pimple scars, softens the skin and improves the complexion.

Mix 75 ml of tender coconut water with the juice of one lemon and 75 ml of carrot juice and take regularly to improve the output of urination and to cure bags under the eyes and generalized edema.

Lime juice for hair removing:

For safe, home-made wax to get rid of unwanted hair, mix lemon juice with dissolved sugar and apply over the skin. This can be regularly used in stead of wax.

How to be Sexy

In the search for our soul mate -- or for a date on Saturday night -- sooner or later, everyone gets taken by surprise. Someone we thought of as not particularly sexy turns out to be hot, hot, hot. It's not necessarily about having particular curves or muscles, stiletto heels or bling. It's a certain something that catches our attention, and doesn't let go. Here's how to cultivate your inner sex god or goddess.
***Work that attitude***
Believe in yourself. So easy to say, so hard to do, but this is the key. It's not about being arrogant, or having a huge ego. It's more about how you let the world know that you feel good about your self, you're confident in what you stand for, in who you are, and what you believe in. Cultivate this, and it shows up in your smile, your eye contact, your walk.

***Have fun***

Make someone smile, and you have a bond. Make them laugh, and you're friends. Keep them laughing, and they're just about yours. Humor and a quick wit are unbelievable attributes when it comes to projecting your sexy self.

***Try a little tenderness***

It can be a hard world out there, and we tend to get tough, and act tough. But don't neglect your softer side. We all have it, and showing it can be a real turn-on, whether you're burbling over a little puppy, offering your seat to the infirmed, or just being extra tender with someone special.

***Speak up***

Some people are naturally extroverted, but the rest of us have to work at it to make it happen. The ability to walk into a room of strangers and strike up conversations, make connections, and work the crowd displays oodles of confidence and leadership, which add up to a ton and half of sexiness.

***Be trustworthy***

This may seem counterintuitive, in this bad-boy, bad-girl world of ours, where nice folks seem to play second fiddle. But building trust is a step to letting down barriers, connecting to another person, getting to that warm, weak in the knees feeling.

***Nurture your sensuality***

We all have a capacity for sensual experience. For many people, though, it's something reserved for private moments. But public sensuality is, well, sensual...not just for you, but for those around you. So cultivate your sensuality and your passion, whether enjoying food, wine, poetry, dancing, a backrub, or simply the touch of a hand. Invite others to share it with you.

***Be good to yourself***

Eat right, get enough sleep, exercise with gusto. Wash up, brush and floss, take care of your skin, get a nice haircut, pay attention to how you dress. These are the basics, but they add oodles to your sex appeal.

10 Signs Of A Healthy Relationship

“My parents had a very good relationship,” I often hear my clients say. “What do you mean by good?” I ask. “They didn’t fight. They spent a lot of time with each other.” That may have been the definition of a good relationship years ago, but now most people want more. Following are ten signs of a healthy relationship.
1. ) KINDNESS
Is kindness more important to each of you than having your way, being in control, or being right? Do you each receive joy out of being kind to each other? Being kind rather than controlling with each other is essential for a healthy relationship.
2.) SPONTANEOUS WARMTH AND AFFECTION
Do you and your partner well up with warmth and fullness of heart for each other and express it with affection? Are you each able to see the beautiful essence within each other, rather than just the faults? Are you able to get beyond the outer to the unique inner Self of each other? Do you enjoy sharing affection? Warmth and affection are vital for a healthy relationship.
3.) LAUGHTER AND FUN Can the two of you laugh and play together? Do you appreciate and enjoy each other’s sense of humor? In the midst of difficulties, can you help each other to lighten up with humor? Can you let down and be playful with each other, letting yourselves be like kids together? Laughter and fun play a huge role in a healthy relationship.
4.) ENJOYING TIME TOGETHER AND TIME APART
Are you both each other’s favorite person to spend time with? Are you motivated to set aside time just to be together? Do both of you have friends and interests that you enjoy doing? Are both of you fine when you are not together? Some couples spend a lot of time together because they really enjoy it, while others spend a lot of time together out of fear of being alone. It is important for a healthy relationship for each person to have friends and interests, so that they are not dependent on each other. Dependency is not healthy in a relationship, particularly emotional dependency.
5.) A METHOD FOR CONFLICT RESOLUTION
All relationships have some conflict. It is not the conflict that is the issue, but how you deal with it. Do you have a method for resolving conflict, or do the issues just keep getting swept aside? If fighting is part of how you deal with conflict, do you fight fair, or are you hurtful when you fight?
6.) LETTING GO OF ANGER
If one or both of you get angry, do you hang on to it, punishing your partner with it, or can you easily let it go? In healthy relationships, both partners are able to quickly move on, back into kindness and affection.
7.) TRUST IN YOUR LOVE FOR EACH OTHER
Do you each trust that the love is solid, even in very difficult times between you? Do you each know that you can mess up, fail, disappoint the other, emotionally hurt the other – and the love will still be there? Do you each know that the love is about who you are, not what you do? This level of trust is essential for a healthy relationship.
8.) LISTENING, UNDERSTANDING, ACCEPTING AND LEARNING
Do you each feel heard, understood and accepted? Can you share your secrets with your partner without fearing being judged? Are you each more interested in learning about yourselves and each other than you are in controlling each other? Is listening to each other with an open heart and a desire to understand more important than judging each other or defending yourselves?
9.) SEXUALITY
Is your sexual relationship warm and caring? Can you be sexually spontaneous? Can you talk with each other about what brings pleasure to each of you?
10.) FREEDOM TO BE YOURSELF
Do you each feel free to be all that you are? Do you each feel supported in pursuing what brings you joy? Does your partner feel joy for your joy? While some people may naturally be open, kind, affectionate, accepting, and emotionally responsible for themselves, most people need to heal the fears and false beliefs they learned in their families. Healthy relationships evolve as each person evolves in his or her ability to be loving to themselves and each other.

The Miracle of a Brother's Song

You are My Sunshine, My only Sunshine" Like any good mother, when Karen found out that another baby was on the way, she did what she could to help her 3-year-old son, Michael, prepare for a new sibling. They found out that the new baby was going be a girl, and day after day, night after night, Michael sang to his sister in mommy's tummy. He was building a bond of love with his little sister before he even met her. The pregnancy progressed normally for Karen, an active member of the Panther Creek United Methodist Church in Morristown, Tennessee. In time, the labor pains came. Soon it was every five minutes, every three, every minute. But serious complications arose during delivery and Karen found herself in hours of labor. Would a C-section be required? Finally, after a long struggle, Michael's little sister was born. But she was in very serious condition. With a siren howling in the night, the ambulance rushed the infant to the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Mary's Hospital, Knoxville, Tennessee. The days inched by. The little girl got worse. The pediatrician had to tell the parents there is very little hope. Be prepared for the worst. Karen and her husband contacted a local cemetery about a burial plot. They had fixed up a special room in their house for their new baby but now they found themselves having to plan for a funeral. Michael, however, kept begging his parents to let him see his sister. I want to sing to her, he kept saying. Week two in intensive care looked as if a funeral would come before the week was over. Michael kept nagging about singing to his sister, but kids are never allowed in Intensive Care. Karen decided to take Michael whether they liked it or not. If he didn't see his sister right then, he may never see her alive. She dressed him in an oversized scrub suit and marched him into ICU. I looked like a walking laundry basket. The head nurse recognized him as a child and bellowed, "Get that kid out of here now. No children are allowed." The mother rose up strong in Karen, and the usually mild-mannered lady glared steel-eyed right into the head nurse's face, her lips a firm line. "He is not leaving until he sings to his sister" she stated. Then Karen towed Michael to his sister's bedside. He gazed at the tiny infant losing the battle to live. After a moment, he began to sing. In the pure-hearted voice of a 3-year-old, Michael sang: "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray." Instantly the baby girl seemed to respond. The pulse rate began to calm down and become steady. "Keep on singing, Michael," encouraged Karen with tears in her eyes. "You never know, dear, how much I love you, please don't take my sunshine away." As Michael sang to his sister, the baby's ragged, strained breathing became as smooth as a kitten's purr. "Keep on singing, sweetheart." "The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping, I dreamed I held you in my arms". Michael's little sister began to relax as rest, healing rest, seemed to sweep over her. "Keep on singing, Michael." Tears had now conquered the face of the bossy head nurse. Karen glowed. "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. Please don't take my sunshine away... " The next day...the very next day...the little girl was well enough to go home. Woman's Day Magazine called it The Miracle of a Brother's Song. The medical staff just called it a miracle. Karen called it a miracle of God's love. NEVER GIVE UP ON THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE. LOVE IS SO INCREDIBLY POWERFUL. In God We Trust! The evidence of God's presence far outweighs the proof of His absence." – Unknown making a living is not the same thing as making a life....

9 steps on How to Stop Procrastinating

Procrastination can lead to many problems — tests failed, weight gained, relationships weakened.
But you can change your ways.
Procrastination is the art of keeping up with yesterday. ~Don Marquis
Here are some tips and steps to get you going!

Steps

* Look at the effects of procrastination versus not procrastinating. What rewards lie ahead if you get it done? What are the effects if you continue to put it off? Which situation has better effects? Chances are, you will benefit more in the long term from facing the task head on.
o Count how much time you spend on activities procrastinating. You may be shocked by the amount of time wasted simply watching TV.
* Set reasonable goals. Plan your goals carefully, allowing enough time to complete them.
* Break the task down into smaller parts. How can you approach it step by step? If you can concentrate on achieving one goal at a time, the task may become less of a burden.
* Get started whether you “feel” like it or not. Going from doing nothing to doing something is often the hardest part of overcoming procrastination. Once you start, it will be easier to continue.
* Ask for help. You don’t always have to do it alone.
* Don’t expect perfection. No one is perfect. It’s better to try your best than to do nothing at all.
* Reward yourself. The reward that lies at the end of a long road to a goal may be great, but while you’re on the way, it may not always be enough to motivate you. Remind yourself-with a break, a movie, some kind of treat you like-that you are making successful progress.
* Don’t let yourself be distracted - by taking control and saying “no” to picking up the guitar, playing a DVD or texting your friends, you build confidence in your ability.
* Other time traps to avoid: saying yes when you don’t have the time, studying when you’re tired or in a distracting location, not thinking ahead, not curbing your social time, and finally, taking on too many tasks and projects.

Tips

* You may want to take a course in time management.
* Several books have been written on procrastination. Here are the titles: “Procrastination: Why You Do It, What to Do About It” by Jane B. Burka, Lenora M., Ph.D. Yuen, “The Now Habit: A Strategic Program for Overcoming Procrastination and Enjoying Guilt-Free Play” by Neil Fiore and for students, “Beat Procrastination and Make the Grade : A Life-Saving Guide for Students” by Linda Sapadin, Jack Maguire. These are highly recommended.
* Of course, not everyone enjoys reading - a very good audio CD/cassette is, “Make Your Mind Work for You : New Mind Power Techniques to Improve Memory, Beat Procrastination and More” by Joan Minninger.
* If you hate to read and begin to procrastinate think of it this way. If you have to read a 276 page book divide it into the amount of time you have. If you have about 2 weeks, reading about 21 pages a day is much less overwhelming.
* Just start working

12 Quick Tips to Improve Self Confidence

Here are some quick tips to improve your Self Confidence. If we are committed to have a healthy self confidence there are many things you can do every day to boost your self confidence, each small steps that will help you to reach your goal. The good news is that self-esteem is not fixed and can be improved, try some of the steps below to boost your confidence and self-esteem.
1) Identify your successes.
Everyone is good at something, so discover the things at which you excel, then focus on your talents. Give yourself permission to take pride in them. Give yourself credit for your successes. Inferiority is a state of mind in which you've declared yourself a victim. Do not allow yourself to be victimized.

2) Look in the mirror and smile.
Studies surrounding what's called the "facial feedback theory" suggest that the expressions on your face can actually encourage your brain to register certain emotions. So by looking in the mirror and smiling every day, you might feel happier with yourself and more confident in the long run.

3) Exercise and eat healthy.
Exercise raises adrenaline and makes one feel happier and healthier. It is certainly an easy and effective way to boost your self-confidence.

4) Turn feelings of envy or jealousy into a desire to achieve.
Stop wanting what others have just because they have it; seek things simply because you want them, whether anybody else has them or not.

5) When you're feeling superbly insecure,
write down a list of things that are good about you. Then read the list back. You'd be surprised at what you can come up with.

6) Don't be afraid to push yourself a bit -
a little bit of pressure can actually show just how good you are!

7) You can try taking a martial arts or fitness class/course
(or both). This will help build confidence and strength.

8) Invest in some new clothing and donate some
of your old clothing to send a message to yourself that you both look sharp and feel sharp.

9) Try to make yourself talk positively at all times
. When you hear yourself saying you can't do something, stop and say you can. Unless you try, you will never know whether you are able to or not.

10) Don't get wrapped up in your mistakes
and dwell on bad points; they can contrast your good points or even give you something to improve. There's no feeling like being good at something you were really bad at.

11) Don't confuse what you have with who you are.
People degrade their self worth when comparing possessions.

12) Surround yourself with nurturing friends,
not overly critical individuals who make you feel inadequate or insecure. This could do great harm and damage to your self confidence.

A touching story for parents who are so busy at work...

A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to
find his 5-year old son waiting for him at the door.
SON: 'Daddy, may I ask you a question?'
DAD: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the man.
SON: 'Daddy, how much do you make an hour?'
DAD: 'That's none of your business. Why do you
ask such a thing?' the man said angrily.
SON: 'I just want to know.. Please tell me, how much
do you make an hour?'
DAD: 'If you must know, I make $20.00 an hour.'
SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: 'Daddy, may I please borrow $10.00 ?'
The father was furious, 'If the only reason you asked
that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or
some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to
your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being
so selfish. I work hard everyday for such this childish behaviour.'
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.
The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the
little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and
started to think: Maybe there was something he really needed
to buy with that $10.00 and he really didn't ask for money very
often. The man went to the door of the little boy's room
and opened the door. 'Are you asleep, son?' He asked.
'No daddy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.
'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the man.
'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation
on you. Here's the $10.00 you asked for.'The little boy sat
straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you daddy!' He yelled.
Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled
up bills. The man saw that the boy already had money,
started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted
out his money, and then looked up at his father.
'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the father grumbled.
'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,'the little boy replied.
'Daddy, I have $20.00 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?
Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.'
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his
little son, and he begged for his forgiveness.
It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life.
We should not let time slip through our fingers without having
spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.
Do remember to share that $20.00 worth of your time
with someone you love.If we die tomorrow, the company that we
are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the
family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.
And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than to our family.
